Thanks for the replies guys, i got some info from the guy, Original tires were just replaced yesterday, and the engine was rebuilt about 6K miles ago, i guess cause it was sitting for a while, so that all wont be a problem, Yea KBB is usually right with the value of cars, but this is kinda a special case, its damn near impossible to find S5's. Maybe ill see if he can come off the price some if I drive out for the trade, its in MI and im in NJ Id tow it home though, dont wanna run up the mileage.

The biggest issue in a Rotary is carbon lock, followed by flooding. Carbon lock is hard to fix, flooding is easy.
With a car and an engine that young, it really won't be a problem.

Actually carbon lock is easy to fix if you know the ATF trick. Also, yea that RX may be worth $7500, many RX-7 fans (me included) would like the car to be in better shape for that much dough. You can ocassionally find absolutely mint, and bone stock (the way to go) TII's for around $6000. You just have to find it before someone tells the seller what it is worth. The paint issues are common for a white RX-7. I can get a mint S5 NA for $3500, any way I want it, or a TII for about $4600, you just need to know where to go. There is a guy in Georgia who builds these and sells them FOR A LIVING. I can give anyone his number if they are interested (you must be serious though).

The newer, safer version involves MMO in place of the ATF, and it works just as well.
Any car that suffered from carbon lock is not to be trusted. I have heard of them running perfectly for years, but if an engine was bad enough to be carbon locked, you can expect it to pop within about 6 months. The only real cure for carbon lock is to rebuild the engine.

Yeah MMO works great too. And you're right about the potential for a quick blow after doing it, but sometimes it does last awhile. Anyway, there are better S5 TII's out there, $7500 is still too high.
