Default Cool fact about E46 BMW engines and possible other newer BMW engines :)

BMW engines does not start dry, once the engine has been shut down, there's about 1/2 quart of oil that remains in the oil filter canister. The engine is lubricated the second it cranks over from the oil inside the filter housing.

post cool facts about other engines

For example, my 1988 Subaru XT 1.8L 4 banger had oil squirters on the bottom of the pistons! Yeah I know big deal right? Yes, it is a big deal for an n/a engine with 100hp

you're going to have to explain that. if you are referring to the E46 M3 engine then it was an isolated mfg date, isolated to few hundred engines.

I'll bet you didn't know the several thousand 2nd gen 1.8L Miata engines have blown up due to bad lubrication on the 3rd crankshaft bearing.

Bentley and Rolls Royce engines are built in Germany

and the Bentley engine is as long as a I-4(its a W-12)

and the V-12 in the Rolls has been stroked to the Magic number

6.75 liters
