Default How do i peel masking tape off.....

without it pulling up the spray paint i sprayed?

I sprayed something about 2 hours ago... and i tried pulling the tape off, but it kinda pulls the spray paint off as well....

if i wait til tomorrow to pull off the tape, will it not peel up with the tape because the paint will be dryer?

thanks
Sean

this is the reason you are supposed to peel the tape off right after you get done painting it.

i dont think that would have worked at at all ... because if i have at least 3 different coats..... primer, paint, clear, i cant remove the tape right away..... each coat has to dry some.

could you use a razor blade to cut along the edge of the tape?

each coat has dried some since if you did it right. You don't do each layer one right after the other. But like I said, you are supposed to peel the paint ASAP. I am a model car builder and painting is my forte, I have done this many times. Think about it. If you let the paint dry, it's gonna dry on the tape too so when you go to peel it, you get what you got. But if you would have peeled it while it was still fresh, it would have came up just fine and not peeled at all.

so what yor saying is... i should have pulled the tape off as soon as i sprayed each coat? It took me an hour to mask it all off.... i would not remask it 10 times at an hour each......

I said peel it after you PAINT it, not after you primer it. And if ur putting clear on, then you should peel it as soon as the last coat is sprayed.

Get a razor blade and cut off the edge where it meets.

if i would have peeled it right after the last coat of clear, the atual paint layer would have already been stuck... so doesnt do any good..

Ill just take a razor blade to it and see what happens.
