Amsoil is so damn freakin expensive you SHOULD be able to go 25k miles with it in. Sure it's expsensive, but it's an awful shortcut. It's akin to quick detailing your car and thinking that you're getting the same protection as a wax.

It's not freaking expensive first of all. I got a gallon which is 4 quarts for $20. Mobil 1 for 6 quarts is $25.
But you can take the oil filter off with oil in the car. All the oil goes to the drain pan as long as you haven't started your car within 3-4 hours.
Amsoil is sold at most racing shops or high performance shops.

Figure I would change my oil with Amsoil at 20,000 miles and I drive about 1000-2000 miles a month. I'll be changing my oil 10 times this year at the cost of $20-25 a pop. That's $200-250 a year in oil and filters.
Now I maybe change it once a year. But don't get me wrong this is not the bible and you guys should use your better judgement. All I have to do is take a few ounces out and send it to get tested.
And yes I love my car and for those who know me I autocross every other weekend
