Name your price range and whether you want something pocket-sized and are willing to give up some image quality in exchange, or if you want the best image quality in a perhaps bigger package. Also most cameras come with no bigger than a 16 MB card which doesn't hold that many pictures so you may want to buy a higher-capacity card.

 

what kinda features? just want a point and shoot camera? or stuff you can adjust.

the a70 is cheap as ever. i think* they are around $250....*think.

i would recommend the 3100. its small, compact, and takes great pics. its a very point and shoot type camera. cant really do much adjusting. i had it for about 2 weeks. i only returned it because i needed something with more adjustability and its too small and light. i have shakey hands.

 

for $400 you can get a great camera. you should decide if you need such a good camera. if you arent planning to use all that adjustabitlity or print huge pics...you can get by just fine with a cheaper camera.

 

i just want insane good quality pics and small size and a resolution of at least 1600x1200, that has it all

 

1600x1200 to print? or to view on a monitor? the nikon 3100 can do that also. and its less than $300.

i have a sony dsc-s50 and a nikon 995. the nikon takes better pics, but the sony is more user-friendly and more convenient for snapshots. sometimes it's better to have two digicams, instead of a do-it-all cam (assuming you're as picky as me).

 

both, i'm gonna try and start doing more with photoshop, i need a camera that can take good action shots too because the area where the camera's gonna see the most use is at the auto-x

 

for 4 mega pixel, Canon power shot S45
for 5 mega pixel, canon power shot S50........hands down

 

just so that you know from my digicam buying experience, i always thought sony was "da shiet" and i was looking at a particular sony model when i wanted to get one but then i asked around and read some forums and found out that sony's camear stuff even though "good" or "sleek" was really a bunch of stuff made to satisfy peoples post modernist quest for style. if you want something that actaully takes good pictures and worth your money feature wise, i'd recommend a nikon or a canon camera.

 

here's my take. it doesnt matter how good the camera is. if you cant take pictures... a million dollar camera wont do shit for you.
