you shouldn't be driving aggressively in the rain anyways so it shouldn't matter too much :dunno:
this is true butt rains a lot in NY and sometimes very heavy so good wet weather traction is an imperitive. I think I am glad I got the 712's. Dry weather handling is awesome and I see almost no difference even in heavy rain. I am very impressed.
In the dry it's absolutely no contest, MX destroys 712. I wouldn't be surprised if they were just as good in the wet. If you want rain traction get a set of Bridgestone S-03s.
I was going to get the MX, but the stupid guy messed up my order and gave me the Supra 712's instead. I yelled at his ass, and he gave me back my money, so I only payed $55/tire (installed) for the Supra 712's. Great deal for a very good tire (way more grip than the crappy stock michelins).
Get the MX if you can get your hands on them. They're out of stock at most places!
ive never driven on mx's but wet vs dry traction on 712's is comparable. i would say from 30 mph im able to stop withing 1-2 feet on wet vs dry. on snow they are useless, i can rarely even get them to speed, much less stop in a reasonable time.
My old sumitomo HRZ-II's were much better in the rain than my current Kumho 712's. Actually, they were better dry also. They were just better tires, and like $10 less each.
