Sucks for others when younger people can tell them what to do. Tell her to eat you :naughty: and just do her job.

Well
She has off next Friday...which is odd because she was off for the first 7 days of the month visiting her son in kentucky...why would she randomly take off a friday 2 weeks later??? Other than this month she hasnt taken off any time...and she only has 10 vacation days a year...so Hopefully she has an interview for another job so we can hire someone up front that is more or less MY age, so we can train them right.

Younger people that have never worked in a certain field before are easier to teach

1-4 years is 10 days....5-9 or 10 years is 15 days....and so on and so forth.

We work in an office where we really cant afford to have alot of vacation days. If youre out..it's hard for another person to make your work up. Unless you never use them..then they roll over.

Any employee should be an asset to the company, not a liability in any shape or form. This glorified receptionist sounds like a lazy, whiny, incompetent bitch. An organization is only as strong as its weakest link. A company can always be improved. The marketplace in our current economy should provide many smart, young individuals who will work hard given the opportunity. Speak to your mom about this dillema objectively, get this dumb **** fired and hire a hot 21 year old chick who's polite, intelligent, and most importantly performs her duties with a smile.

I didn't read all the responses, but I would:

A) Tell her that the time clock is not the law and any professional who gives a shit about their job does a little extra work when necessary with no complaint. Be straight with her and tell her she's being unprofessional.

no results? B) Rat on her.

I know how you feel... I'm the youngest person in my office by a fair margin. At first it was really uncomfortable and I wouldn't dream of confronting anyone. Now I realize that it doesn't make a difference and we are nothing more than our role in the office... age doesn't matter. Not that I have to confront people all that often, but ya know

:edit: All of my receptionists are the bomb. Very smart and professional and never bitch about being asked to do more. We have about 6 of them, and we've had a steady stream of new ones over the last 4 years I've worked there. You should have no problem finding a good receptionist.
