This game is impressive.
Does it live up to the hype?
If you followed the Halo series from start to finish, yes. You can see the natural progression of the titles from 1 to 2. Going from 2 to 3 is like hitting warp speed. In the past, you were stuck at 480p and the limitations of an older console ... now ... 1080p, HD visuals, dolby digital surround ... larger capacity discs, better dvd drives, etc.
It's like ... i dunno ... stepping out of a 1992 Accord and getting behind the wheel of an 08. Everything is just ... so damn fresh and pretty, but familiar.
If you haven't followed the Halo series ... no idea what you'll think of this. Your natural instinct is to compare it to what you know and are accustomed to. By all means, this game is not for the fans only ... and should be a must have app for the 360.

Well..I picked it up last night. (If I found one..I'd get it...if not..no big deal
h: ....) I didn't follow the Halo series. However I did play Halo 2 on the Xbox console. Back then, it was not a huge deal to me. Nothing spectacular jumping at me. After popping the game in (since 98% of my XBL friends list was on it too), I was quickly invited to a coop campaign mode at the most difficult setting.
From a non fan POV:
+ graphics are nice, but I still think Gears of War is better
+ levels are epic and huge. Very very cool running around having places to hide and shoot. However, sometimes suck when you dont have a vehicle to jump into.
+ the multiplayer is great, I think this is what the game is built for. Havent tried any other multi player modes except for campaign so far.
- gameplay seems to be the same. Nothing really spectacular or anything that puts it over any other FPS's out there.
- coming from a personal view - I like playing realistic simulator FPS's such as GRAW, or R6V. This game seems to be like Unreal mixed with GRAW/RS6.
My personal review so far: (coming from a general FPS gamer)
Fun Factor: 7/10
Graphics: 8/10
Gameplay: 7/10
Replay Value: 8/10
Overall: 7/10
