Xbox One Crew w. big enises ... Halo MCC HYPE THREAD! (est. 2007)
Jamie's running a 2ms LED monitor now. I think that might have put him over-the-top. He's averaging 20 kills a game now. Last night in Snipers, he was pulling down a consistent 26 to 28. It's getting ridiculous.
will do. i've read ok reviews, but we'll see.
bring it on over big boy. :rick:
i'm thinking about trying to convince my wife to let me set up a beefy game center in our extra room. she'd be ok with the actual set up, but possibly not with the money involved. if i could find a good tv for cheap, i might be able to do it. right now i'm running the 26" olevia from the deal years ago.

Yeah, he's definitely getting beast. 4 perfections last night.
What did he get?

23in Asus 2ms LED monitor, $200. (Newegg)
Lack end table, $15. (Ikea)
Logitech speakers, $20. (Amazon)
Random video game rocking chair, $20. (Target)
I'm perfectly happy with this rig. No couch needed and it's minimal on the space. When I play, I pull the table over me, so it kinda feels like a ghetto cockpit. h:
My first Olevia 27 from 2005 had a wonderful 25ms response time. Going from that, to the new screen was day and night. There's no hardware lag between you and the interaction on the screen. That's the difference between single and double digit kills.
new gamertag: PROST8 X AM.
I got my XCM Crossfire in. This thing is pretty spiffy, but pricey.
Pricey:
The XCM Crossfire ran about $100 to my house. $85 for the unit, $6 tax, $9 shipping.
To operate, you need a wired 360 controller. The charge n play kit will not do. Most people do not have one of these, so +$40. Last night, I discovered that the wired headset is now useless. I have to use a wireless mic now. If you don't have one of these, it's another $50.
So, with tax, you're looking at easily $200 for a controller setup. In my case, I was fortunate. I happen to have a wireless headset (given to me for free) and I borrowed a wired controller from someone who had no use for it.
Spiffy:
Bungie specifically built / modified weapons not to give an advantage to rapidfire mods. BR's can only shoot so fast. AR's can only shoot so fast. Snipers can only shoot so fast.
But ... when the trigger is held down, you're shooting at 30 button pushes per second. You have an auto-fire BR. You have an auto-fire Carbine. Instead of worrying about aiming and shooting, you're now just aiming.
The biggest challenge is not to change your playing style. It will not make you Rambo. Rushing into the enemy will still get you killed. Where this does help is if you're in a 2 on 1 situation. You can take down one and move onto the next almost immediately. In SWAT, you can eliminate a pile of opponents because you're only looking for heads ... not pulling triggers anymore.
Weapons that become deadly with the mod:
Carbine, Brute Chopper, Ghost, Sword (melee), Brute Shot
Weapons that are slightly improved with the mod:
BR, AR, SMG, Spiker
Weapons unchanged by the mod:
Rockets, Hammer, Shotgun, Gaushog Turret, Sword (lunge), Mauler, Sniper, Banchee
Weapons that are slightly worse with the mod:
Needler, Human turret
Weapons that are useless with the mod:
Laser
The Crossfire is a unique solution. Most controller mods are just that, mods. The XCM system allows you to pick which button gets the rapidfire treatment ... not select a theme or mode hoping that it applies to your button configuration. This mod will also put years back onto my gaming life. This will save my finger from cramping and repetitive motion problems.
