Default What is this bike worth? Is it worth picking up?

21 speed Specialized Hard Rock Mountain Bike (Virginia)

I'm looking to get back into bike riding again, it's been years now and I'm less active with the type of work I do. I know my stepfather has a Specialized bike that cost around $2000 several years ago. Is this bike worth $200 that he's selling it for? I was going to offer him $100-150.

I just want something I can ride around my area. There are plenty of beaches close by and trails I could take it on.

Is it really old school? Like stopped production 5+ years ago? I'm just looking for something decent and in good shape without paying more than what its worth.

I just saw the grip shifts h:

I mean if the components are working fine, its a good bike for getting around town or taking it on very very light trails.

yeah i'd go with $75. It doesn't even have any suspension but I guess it depends on what kind of biking you want to do and twistshifter ftl. If you want to a nice new quality hardtail for a good price I'd go with the trek 3700.

retails $300

GripShift ftl! I can't even tell what kind of derailleur that is, that's not a good sign.

Pedals with straps/reflectors aren't a good sign either.

This isn't a girl's bike is it? I know he mentioned that his wife rode it, but it doesn't have the typical slanted part on the frame. h:
