I am in the same place you are, 23 and want to step up also. I test drove a tsx 6spd today...not that impressed with the power. I am thinking the IS250 or IS350 but thats more than I want to drop in a car at this age. The TSX might make the cut when I am ready to buy in a few months, only because I would get a lease return so I would only be spending 20-22k.

I've driven both and the 1.8T Quattro felt underpowered.
And there is the question of reliability, being a VW Group product..

if i were you and i were to pick a $30-35k car right now, id go with the new IS250. its clean, smooth, probably reliable, and its brand new with a new design. imo, it doesnt really have a "luxury" factor...but then again, these days ive been feeling like any car under $45k doesnt really feel like a "luxury" car aside from their respective brand name. to me, theyre all just entry level cars for luxury brands. but there is definitely a difference between driving and owning a new IS for $32k and a new accord for $32k. probably all mental, but thats just me h:

no chance of used? even an m3? in a few years should be able to get one around that price with not to many miles
if it has to be new then you could save money and get civic si sedan with navi, yeah its a honda and not 300hp but it will last forever, get good mpg, and be fun to drive, just no baller status
or if you want to be a real badass get a 1988-93? m5 and restore it back to good health
fit + k swap woud be in your price range too, just a thought
im turning 24 and would love to be in your situation, feel lucky you are on a track to get a nice car so soon, i will be rockin my ek for years to come
edit: my first page 2 ownage
