THEN why does it matter to him

Exactly :dunno:

I think the problem is that I was still seeing her but didn't tell him till tonight. Even still though, he shouldn't be like that if he really doesn't have any feelings left for her.

In the end I lose them both. In a few weeks I will move back to NY. I will probably never talk to him again and she may not even make it to NY. All I will leave with is the pride in knowing that I came clean.

u did nothing wrong..your best friend wont talk about it and i dont think his reaction has anything to do with u.. u didnt betray him.. u can only go by what both of them have told u..he has told u what he wants to tell u.. he may not even know the answers.. if u like her then keep in contact...

most relationships/friendships r based on what each person contributes and invests in them. perception and the degree of compromise have some influence also....i dont think u have lost either one of them.

give them both space and time, see what happens..u were upfront with your best friend, u were respectful of both of them..u have done all u can do for the moment..

If when you move to NY you will never talk to him again, then how good of a friend is he? Sounds like he is more of an aquaintance then :dunno:

If so go for the girl.

I agree with this.

My one really good friend started dating my other really good friend's ex. My friend who did her first told him "Go for it".
Once you've broken up with somebody, you have no right to get butthurt about somebody else going out with her, friend or not. That's just common sense.
