I don't think you go to jail for that. I would assume there is a fine and you must show proof of insurance and registration when you go to court.

If you are quoting the guy above you...it doesn't matter where you live, it's a stupid idea. I'm not talking about a day or two past your insurance or registration if you forget or get delayed somehow. I mean if you deliberately drive around without insurance, you're not only affecting yourself but others on the road. How would you like it if someone accidently slammed into your car causing thousands in damages and to find out the driver has no insurance?
