I always recommend some hot chicken soup for new car paints.

when you get the car back, be sure to take it easy for the 1st week. the paint needs proper time to cure and settle.

when that's all done, i use ...

for the wash

for the wax

Don't wash it for a month. You could take the paint right off your car if you don't wait for it to cure. And actually in the winter I think you have ot wait a little longer.

3 months no lie.(for wax)

i'm very anal about my paint too. i wash my car all the time now. I never dry it with anything except the absorber/shammie(sp). wax once every month or two.

knock on wood. almost 2 years, not one strach, swirl, dents.

untrue.
The most delicate time for the paint is the first 48 hours or so after it's painted. Then it becomes really hard for a few months until it fully cures, when it softens a little again. during this time it may crack and chip easier (say if you get a ding), but taking the paint off by washing it ain't gonna happen (unless you're being a dumbass and using harsh detergents and steel wool :chuckles: ). As a matter of fact, most body shops will wash your car (and lots of times wetsand and buff it if necessary) right after they put everything back together, before you get it back...so that it looks all purty.
Don't wax for a couple of months, though, because as the paint cures, it releases minute gases...if you have them sealed in with wax, it could cause what they call "pinholes" in the paint....which look like actual pinholes.
At least that's what they done learnt me in school. :exnbp:

True statement, my boss is a professional auto/motorcycle paint specialist, at LEAST 3 months before the paint fully cures before you can apply soap or wax products... It may not mess up the paint if your Careful, but i would wait the full 3 months before using any products to wash/wax your car.
