Default My old cr@p exhaust / My new cr@p exhaust

If you've ever taken any advice from me, particularly about exhaust, I'd like to post this thread to humiliate myself. This is the POS exhaust I built for $32. Initially, it was only $7... But the exhaust was just too loud without a muffler, so I bought a cheap universal one for $25. It is by far, my worst ever conglomoration of half-assedness.

I would have posted this a long time ago, but it's embarassing.

When I swapped in the DX motor, the CX exhaust didn't fit. So I got a $7 used '88 CRX downpipe, bolted it to the manifold, flared a 2" piece of scrap, and welded it between the CRX pipe and the dinky CX B-pipe.

Then I clamped on a universal muffler because it was the loudest 4-cyl on the planet with just a straight pipe.

I'm about to chop it all off and replace it with OEM-style pipes, muffler and converter. Basically it's costing me $360 to replace everything from the manifold to the tailpipe at wholesale prices without labor. I'm the labor.

Here's my new crap. The converter will be here tomorrow. No emmissions tests where I live, but it's time to do the right thing and put it all back on there. I sure hope this car's next owner appreciates this.

..oh yeah... I got a new axle and new tires, too.

I recorded what it sounded like, straight pipe w/o a muffler.

http://homepage.mac.com/jafro/FileSharing10.html

there's a file named d15b7straightex.mp3 in there. It's 0-90mph. I wind 2nd out at 82mph.

that actually sounds pretty cool, probably mind numbing in person though.
