Default abit ic7g onboard audio wont work, help plz

I installed the drivers for the onboard audio on my ic7g. When I open the ic7g's audio properties icon in the system tray and run the speaker test, it works. But when I'm trying to play video in wmp 10 and various other video players, I dont get any sound. Any suggestions?

onboard sound is fine for most things.

I'd check in the sound properties in the control panel... I think there's an option to set it to use any avaliable device instead of specifying one. sometimes that helps because the sound card makes other virtual devices that aren't listed, so it'll just goto the next virtual sound card channel when it can

Could this be the culprit? I think it is. How would I troubleshoot that ??
