Your take on pizza delivery guys

my theory on tipping in restaurants applies here too. if you cant afford to tip the required amount at the very least, then you cant afford to go out to eat. theres no excuse for not tipping unless the service was intentionally bad.

i always tip well, unless you supremely piss me off.
like the one time our pizza was an hour late, but the pizza was still hot, and the delivery girl looked like she was gonna cry and apologized up and down, plus gave us a free soda. i tipped her well

I always tip generously. In the past I didn't tip at all if the service was really terrible.
Now I tip to call the manager over to tell them that the service was sub par. That seems to make things better for all parties.
Now for pizza delivery guys. I only order from the local places. I don't like most of the chain places. The pizza is always great! I've never been disappointed in the past 4 years. So on a $15-20 order, I will tip $5. If it's $15, then I just hand over a $20 and say have a good night
If it's $20ish, then I'll hand over $30 and just ask for $3 back.
I don't know maybe it's just me but most of the guys seems surprised when I do this. In a town where the median house hold income is $120K, I guess a lot of cheapskates live here :chuckles:
