Default Canon A80 first day pics (56k maybe)

I finally got around to purchasing a decent digital camera. I went with the Canon Power shot A80 and if ****ing rocks. I just bought it yesterday so I haven't had to much time to mess with all the manual settings to get things right but eventually i'll get around to reading the manual. So far I would recommend this camera to anyone looking for a medium sized camera that takes really nice pics.

I've spent the whole freakin day playing with the camera... here's some samples from today...

From Sausalito

Fort Baker by Marin Headlands

Some flowers at My gf house

I'm still tring to figure out how to get good sunset shots. Thanks to those that helped me out in picking this camera.

Shouldn't need the white balance in daytime shots

i guess i'll give my $.02 h:

#1- doesnt do anything for me. the lighting is bad, i think itll be nicer if you catch the full colors of the flowers. and the background doesnt mix with the flowers too much.

#2- that scene...it has potential, but something seems to be lacking...cant put my tongue on it.

#3- the sunrays give it a nice "effect" but the subject is too bland. i stayed at a hostel for a night in the marin headlands last year.

#4- its too busy, i dont know what to concentrate on.

#5- with some cropping and PS tweaks, i think it makes a great shot.

#6- too far away to be a good macro shot, too busy again.

These are sunset shots from spring break... you can adjust the exposure settings if you take it off auto.

You'll learn to take better photographs as time goes on... here's a flower shot I took impromptu one day, just a point and click. I think its pretty damn good.

just start taking a shitload of pics, remember, each extra photo doesn't cost shit.

there are two white balance day time settings for canon:

daylight

cloudy

i swear by white balance. it makes digital photography so much the better when it comes to adjusting levels and colors.

About your pics

#1: Uninteresting composure due to the depth of field being beyond the flowers which should have been the focus of the picture.

#2: Nice bay shot, good composure.

#3: Not very interesting to me really but the way the sunrays cut across it really makes it stand out a bit. Seems a bit washed out overall though.

#4: I like this shot a lot but crop out the truck on the left side

#5: This is ne of those postcard type pictures but the color seems a hair less than vibrant..not sure how to handle that really. Crop the clump of grass out of the bottom IMO.

#6: Gorgeous flowers, excellent depth of field with nice boca.
