how do you tip?
ducky's thread made me think about how people tip and i didn't want to jack his thread.
i usually tip well, depending on how they are. i always give $5 tip when i get a haircut. and for waiters/waitresses, if they're good/decent i give a nice tip (~%20). if they're just ok, i give ok tips (~%10) and if they're crap, i give a dollar.

I used to wait tables, so I know how it is to live off of tips. For that reason, I usually tip well (~20%). If the service is mediocre, I won't go above 15%. If it's truly bad, I won't go above 10%. Now, if the service is awesome, I'll go as high as 25-30%.

it depends on the service. I usually give 15-20 unless the service was outstanding, then I tip higher. If the service was horrible and the waiter is a ****up and anooying I leave a very little tip.

I am definately the toughest restaurant/eat-out customer.
The only way a waiter/waitress gets more than 15% is if they were exceptionally good/above average.
So generally, I say I tip 15% for the average, but I have definately tipped less for poor service.
I've also tipped like $8 for a $2 meal.

avg service i tip 10%... most of the waiters/waitresses here dont serve "exceptionally well" anyway. theyre usually just late teens/early 20s and do an "average" job. besides, i dont give a f*ck if its a hard job or not... thats not my problem thats why i dont do that for my job h: everyone has their own difficulties at their own jobs... but anyway, i do acknowledge and take into account if the place is really busy and they appear overworked. otherwise, for any "average" day where its pretty easy going and they dont really wait on me and i have to work to get them, then f*ck it. im giving them 10% tip max. if they give me bad service, i leave them coins for change just to piss them off. h: of course if they wait on me well, ill make sure they are tipped very well and let them know i appreciate their service.
