Loosing weight thread...
Ever since I left this thread for a couple of months now. I started really trying to loose weight 3-4 months ago and I lost 26 pounds. I use to weight in at 215 pounds now I'm down to 189 pounds. Let's just put it this way, lots of excersize and I have cut out a lof of foods. However I'm having trouble toning and loosing more weight. What do I have to do to get to my desired goal which is 170? I want too have good looking abs and good strong arms and yes I've been lifting weights, just not all the time.. Do you guys have any ideas and suggestions for me?
My routine is this:
Run at least once or twice a week for 2 miles.
50 Situps a night.
Eat a whole lot less then what I use too. No more junk food, laid off on the soda, hardly even touch the stuff anymore.
I really just want to tone my body and loose the 19 pounds I want to loose. I'm at a point where it's hard to loose weight I guess. Let me know how you guys are diong with your weight loosing experiences, I'd appreciate it.

in order to get muscle, you need to target that specific muscle atleast 3 times a week. The actual weight loss will come with time, because obviously you are losing weight now, so you've probably just hit your plateau (where weight loss gets harder). Start doing more weight training, and you should get more tone.

what would someone recommend for a healthy diet i can understand no fried food and stuff like that, and if i go out to eat i usually go for grilled chicken or go to subway or somethin like that. and im tryin to drink more juice and water instead of pop. im just a bit overweight like 10lbs i just need to work on that and tone up a bit and im good i should be able to do this with an hour a day in the gym everyday.

you're on the right track, congrats on your initial results.
i was in the same boat as you during my initial weight loss phase...when i went from 220 to 180, i hit a wall. your body adjusts to the exercise pattern, and weight loss will slow down. you need to "shock" your body to get the weight loss going again, by changing your routines and exercising more aggressively. after pushing past my plateau, i lost another ~25lbs.
here's my advice: run more often...try 4x a week. also, try to run more than your usual of ~2 miles. if 2 miles is your usual, then make sure you dont run less than 2 miles. get it? also...if you're doing long, constant runs at a medium pace, try running at high speed "spikes" - for example, run 2 laps at a normal pace, 1 lap sprint, 1 lap jog, 1 lap sprint, etc. finally...if you're able to talk while running, run faster.
building muscle will come with time, but you must do it regularly to train them. try lifting on a regular basis, focusing on the muscles you want to develop the most. maybe chest one day, arms (biceps and triceps) another day, and then back/shoulders. keep in mind that heavy weightlifting also burns calories and increases metabolism.

rich has some good advice. i also recommend working out your legs b/c they are the biggest muscles you have. try squats or a leg press b/c not only will be able to move faster, you will notice that you can increase weights on you legs a lot faster than any other muscles. i went from a wimpy 65lbs on the quad machine to 130lbs in a few months (i have knee problems though ). and more muscles = burn more calories.
let me guess...you have teh dreaded love handles right? good luck trying to get rid of those. you need to be like 8% body fat to rid yourself of love handles
