if you cash a check at the bank the check is from, do you need an account at that bank? for instance, the bank on my check from work is wells fargo, so if i try to cash it at a wells fargo, would i need an account there? im tired of going to a check cashing place and have them cut a few dollars from my already small check. h: :sad:

walmart may cash checks, or kmart.

but... no, you should be able to go to a bank or credit union and cash the check as long as you have photo ID.

 

Most banks will cash a check drawn from there bank account just tell them you would like to cash it and show them idea most will ask for 2 pieces of ID and a finger print in Cali atleast and as long as the check falls under the non customer check cashing limit then you are good to go. Just and FYI there maybe a small fee 5 bucks or so to cash it I know for a fact BofA does that for non customers.
