Default DIGICAM THREAD....calling all Canon S-Series owners...

holla. i want personal feedback on this camera. mainly about the sturdiness of the chassis. im going to the snow to go boarding and want some pics. but i cant lug my c-4000 around. so i wanted something compact and solid. i played with the s-series before, but dont recall if it would survive in my pockets and taking scrubs in the snow. thanks.

About 6 of my friends have the S230, S400, and the variations of them. I use them whenever we go out and they bring them.

I think it's the best if you want something small. The metal case takes a beatin'

I am also considering picking up a smaller digi cam for things like snowboarding too.

are you talking about the s400 ish models? or the s40 ish models
i can't really speak for the s400 ish models but i have an s50 and i'm pretty sure it will take a beating in the snow and still take sweet pictures.
i don't know if its something you wanna put in your pocket though, i'd put it in at least padded fanny pack or a small backpack cause in it'd probably feel uncomfortable in your pocket.

if its a buy and return, why are you worried about size? are you going to be sneaking it in somewhere?

because i need it to fit in my jacket pocket. im going to be carrying it when im on the slopes. i just wanted to know if the chassis will take the abuse of falling down on the snow and not show signs of it h: or course i will do my best to protect it at the same time.

I have an S200. It's alright but I wouldn't use it for much of anything other than snapshots. If you need something to take with you snowboarding, I would try one of them all-weather dealies in case you drop it or something. I don't know any models or companies offhand though.
