Why do companies make equip. such as side airbags and side curtain airbags etc.... optional? If it pertains to safety... i think everyone should have the same equality....

well of course..... but thats retarded.

 

too some people they prefer not to have it.
so if all their cars have it then the people that don't want it will not buy the car.

 

because some people (i.e. me) don't want them. I don't even want a driver's side airbag.

Side curtain airbags are offered as an option because they are not at this time an NTSC or DOT requirement.

I for one would rather not have any airbag equipment...there is something about having a bag pop in your face that just makes me uncomfortable whether I am in an accident situation or not.

 

:werd: And to add to that, it's also a bag with tons of air pressure in it that deploys in 1/10 of a second. Air bags can save lives but it can also kill you. I rather not have a air bag at all.

At school we removed an air bag from a steering wheel and deployed the bag on the ground. This was neat to see because the air bag flew up like 12 ft up in the air.

 

I thought the people who were killed by airbags weren't wearing their seatbelt? anyways, I would prefer to have a rollcage
