Default Is there such a thing as a quality paint job under $1000?

The paint on my red, '94 Integra LS is essentially shot. Oxidation is terrible on it. It really needs to be repainted.

Would like to keep the car another year or two, but considering the car's limited value it's hard to justify spending money on it.

From what I understand, a quality paint job under $1,000 doesn't exist. Is this really the case? With some decent rims/tires, and new paint--the car would look a whole lot better. But cost is a major issue to weigh.

If anyone has any experiences or recommendations I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

Well thats not true. YOu can get a great paint job for under $1000. If your only looking to keep the car for another 2-3 years then just got to macco and there jobs are pretty good(depending) what you wanna get done. There is a paint job they do that they just hit the outside of the car and nothing else. If you get that done I would say pay someone to sand the car down for you then send it to macco and you will spend less then $1000 and have a good job that will last you a good 4-5 years.

If you MUST get a cheap paintjob done...Maaco is your best bet. But like honura Said, prep it yourself. All Maaco does is scuff it with a Red Scotch-Brite pad and Paint it. <----Not enough to last 4-5 years. Just take some 320 grit sand paper on a DA Sander and sand down the car. You don't have to go to bare metal or primer. Just sand it so that you get through the clear coat and you're down to the paint. You'll save more money that way and plus you have a better chance of having the paint look better and last longer. An average same color Paint Job will cost around $1500...which includes Prepping. So if you go ahead and prep it yourself...you could take it to a better body shop and spend decent money on a good paint job. Just go around and as body shops how much to just paint, not prep. Good luck with it and I hope it turns out great for you.

Under $1k for a professional paintjob is unheard of. I have a guy in NJ that will do a car for around $1k if anyone needs the hookup on a professional paintjob. Work like his is always at least $2k+ though...good luck finding a good, cheap pro job without a huge hookup.

It's not ALWAYS at least $2k and up...I do that kind of work. My dad owns a body shop. If he's wanting to keep the same color...he could get a good paint job for around $1,500. But if he Preps it himself, he could get it done for cheaper. Your friend just over prices.
