i have never heard of this before. Are sure its a good practice to get it clear coated?
so what your saying is i cant wash and wax the hood? how do i protect it then?
how much do you think this would cost?

btw wouldnt that involve them sanding into the gel coat, to get the clear to stick? Wouldnt that make it dull instead of shiny?

what should i do about the winshield washer holes, i dont think they come with predrilled holes.

Is there anyway to protect it from fading?
thanks guys!
The Coupe and Sedan hoods are different, however, I have a coupe hood on my car with minimal problems. The major differentce is the width.

There are no pre-drilled holes, and I have left mine un-drilled, I don't have the heart to drill through the hood, so I relocated the washer nozzles.

There is no real way to protect it, but like paint, just keep good care of it's clear coat and keep it clean/waxed.

Save yourself the hassle, don't buy cheap CF hoods, I've seen tons of CF hoods, and the only ones that look decent are ViS, FI or the real Spoon. I've seen the no name brands, some don't come coated, you'd have to bringit somewhere and pay another $50-100 to coat it... I've seen them with VERY imperfect weaves that look -to put it bluntly- ass.

From my experience, FI has the most consistent weaves, but fitment is hit or miss. For ViS, I have sold a few of these and they are VERY good for their price. ~$350 shipped from most online retailers. They come pre-drilled as well.

I sold them for that price, but it was local pick up.

I have seen them at GroupBuyCenter for $350, not sure if they still have them.

Everyone I know (including me) gets there hood clear coated because clear coat is more durable than gel coat. I have heard that if you wax a gel coated hood it will eventually start to oxidize. When you clear it they scuff the gel coat then clear it and its looks great just as shiny as new but it alot more protected. I had a CF hood on my LS and it looked great even after 4+ years of setting in the weather.
