I have to admit that I was IN LOVE with bikes. I had some great rides and had great times and moist of all hung w/ some great dudes....I also knew a bunch of guys that died and got hurt.
MOst recently, I was riding on sat night in sept...perfect air perfect night. I was with a bunch of guys I just met. A guy on a gixxer 1K and I started hitting it we were doing 150mph when all of a sudden i heard a big boom!! the bike started fishtailing violently beneath me...threatening to throw me ( highside). I was able to ride it out and discover much to my surprise that the oil had come out of the engine and coated the rear tire. You see, in a car its difficult for a freak accident like this to KILL you. I've been riding when you're fully leaned over and see a guy dragging knee in front of you hgits a patch of wet leaves and whooof!! off the road he goes. The worst is when you're in the twisties dragging knee in you OWN lane and some bozo in a cage (car) drifts wide into your lane....WHACK!!!
So I guess that the fanstasy is over. I enjoyed it heavily for 4 years - however I now realize that I was able to do this b/c I was in the THICK of my residency (Im an MD). You work long hours, get no respect, get paid ****....I look back and realize that the ONLY way I was able to take the risk everyday is that I must have been depressed and had a bit of a death wish (I had a bleak outlook on the future).
However, after the last accident I got my job lined up for after I graduate. I'll be moving to a vacation spot, with perfect weather all year hround, I'll be making a ****load of money and just like that I decided that I want to enjoy myself - now the risk of taking a "dirt nap" is too great. Maybe in the future I'll get another bike, but for now, I'm just not interested...it's amazing really - my wife of six years never gave me **** about riding - however, shes really psyched that i'm hanging it up for a while.
If you're gonna ride - the place to do it is on the track. The streets have TOO many variables - all of which may render you quadraplegic. Tons of guys do it - hey I got away with three crashes/incidents. When you ride a bike you have to realize that there's TWO kinds of riders-
1) Those that HAVE crashed
2) Those that are GOING to crash
If you can stomach that reality and the knowledge that everytime you get on your baby, may be the LAST time then you'll be okay.

that's interesting, because I"m on the way to becoming an MD and the whole reason I wanted to ride now and get my speed bug out of my system now was because I knew I couldn't do it in the future.
I've heard many horror stories regarding the motorcycle. I've even stood in front of a guy who couldn't hold his head up cause the muscles in his neck had snapped so he had to push his forehead up to look at me, yet I still think I'm different than that. I will definetely have a second ride (my S2K), but I just want to feel the rush of the wind against my body, and performance that goes along with it.
I will try to listen to you though. I have too much to do with my life. I'm also the last full blooded Iranian male from my family on my dad's side from generations of oldest sons. I can't let my family name down that easily. Damn it!! I want one!!

that's what I"m thinking too, but before I have anything solid, I"m staying with this path. My sister is in Pharmaceuticals, and she said that it's booming hard core, and they need good looking guys, like myself to take over, hehe. Conceded, a little . I'm definetily going to check into all that before I go full blast in any direction. Thanx for the input though dude

I saw a black one this afternoon. I am a big s2000 nut, but to actually appreciate the s you need to torment the engine. To put it simply is the Z is an everyday car that you can rip up on the weekends! Basically a porsche @ corvette $. There is a reason that there is a 2 month waiting list for that car. That never really happened with the s. Party is over for the S2000. I have an Acura MDX, but honda and acura are just producing plain cars now with little personalty! It's a Z or M3 for me!!!

Having driven both and currently owning an S2000, I would say it all comes down to what you're more comfortable driving. The S2000, although very agile, can become dangerously unstable near the edge. Without any sort of traction control or stability control, all you have to go on is the feedback you get from your eyes, ears, and the road. Keep in mind, RWD cars are dynamically unstable simply by the way they are built. A good FF driver may feel overconfident in an FR setup no matter what car it is. It's easier to carve corners and launch off the line.
Anyways, enough lecturing. The S2000 is purely a drivers car. The passenger seat is boring as hell. The interior isn't much to look at when you're cruising, and it's not much of a luggage carrier if you're looking to pick up that hot girl standing at the airport. But in the summer, driving top-down in the middle of the night is a feeling that can't be matched. The feeling behind the wheel of a roadster is very different from a coupe. The 350Z is powerful, no doubt, but I felt as thought there were some features on the car that were cheaply made. Also, the rear end the car isn't as attractive as I think it could have been. Overall, I think if you want a car that is forgiving, has pretty good looks, and has different levels of affordability, get the 350Z. I'm willing to bet you'll see less 350Z's drive over the edge of a cliff or smack into the side of a mountain than you will S2000s despite the larger 350Z population. It's an easier car to learn the "edge" on. If however, you think you're the sh*t, dont' need traction control ever, or you just want to take a chance, get the S2000.
Both cars are excellent. They each have their downsides, but as with any two competitors, you'll always sacrafice something for the other. Best wishes.
PS: I flipped my S2000 three weeks ago. Loss of traction + overdue alignment = S2000 rusting away in the bodyshop.

excellent posts there secret.
Stepping out of the prelude into my Z was a sobering experience. That said, I lost count of how many times VDC stepped in to save me. Now, I've been practicing driving with the *aid* of VDC versus it interupting at the edge.
In terms of the interiors I think the Z wins hands down...but thats just opinion. Either way, the s200 is a drivers cars...thats it. Lucky for me my 6'2" frame fits with plenty of room to spare in the Z whilst i couldnt get comfy in the s2000 - it must be nice to be 5'8"!

I feel alot of people are a little biased here. Of course that will happen--it's a honda board. I love the shape of the S2000, but it is old looking compared to the 350Z. Secondly, there is a reason car companies are comparing the 350Z to the M3, but if the S2000 is in the comparison it is usually a modified S2000. My 2 cents
