ok..

im getting sick and tired of little 15 year olds talking about hids as if they know all about the visible and ultra violet light spectrum.

first of all the HIDs in the s2000 are 4300K thats what most of the OEM lamps are. the difference between getting 4300 for your car and 4300 from OEM projector housings is that the housing is made for an ARC of radiant light. that means that the light is a whiteish yellow when it is illuminating from the envelope of excited gas, but the OPTICS of the projector its self is made to take every usible lumen to project more candle power. projectors for hids are great... for HIDS that is due to the fact that when you project light through a convex lense it has a focal point a few feet ahead of it in the housings case. and then it floods as it expands in the pattern the projector's reflective background to the ground. so in a projectors case, it must have a shodow zone to ensure it will not blind people ( a convex lense creates an X like focal point and the bottom from the inside must me shadowed so it will not shine out too high when projected.) now keeping all that in mind and the fact that the arc emits light from every angle, putting hids in OEM projector headlamps for integras is a beatiful thing. the only problem is that it has a shodow zone for the 9006 bulb where the filiment is pointing strait up and down. now the shadow is going to reduce your light output or candle power but its still going to be much brighter than the halegen bulbs. but putting 4300k bulbs is kind of ulgy because the optics of the projector is not intended for an HID bulb. for best color results you should invest in the 6000k bulbs they look a hell of a lot better and the candle output is hardly distinguishable to the naked eye. the only down side to getting higher temperature bulbs in the city is that the metal halide discharge (usualy mercury or sodium) lights the city uses to light the streets distort the frequency of the HIDs. not to where you cant see but enough to where you cannot see your lights as much as you want. but it lights the hell out of the reflectors and street signs. so you dont miss anything in the long run.
if you ever put HIDs on a reflector like the civics or in f150's that are un-defused light it is the best! it lights every nook and cranny of the road and then some more. no shadow zones or distortion from the convex lense.

and always remember,
if it says phillips™ it doesnt mean its the real deal. there is this place in asia called china and they have a republic of china (ROC) taiwan where they specialize in making bootleg products and make these wonderfull stickers that say Phillips™. and they love to slap them on ballasts that look just like everyother ballast out there. there are hundreds of distributors that but them in bulk on cargo haulers from that magical land and they print out their own stickers that say "K2" Senko" and Giant Light Corp who all specialize in knocking off Phillips™. i know this because i have my own shop and i am pretty close with the owners of most of the distributors i pick up from and they all do the same thing.

ohh yea all the newer HIDs out there are specially made for most fittings, h1,h3,h4,h7,9004,9005,9006,9007 and some other fog lights. they all have the envelope in the same place as the halegen filliment would be so dont worry about messed up beams. just make sure you buy the correct size!

sorry this post was soo long. i just had to get it out. you guys are lucky i made it as short as it is, i could have gone much longer, but the dow is closing pretty quick. gotta jet.

:naughty:

Nice post. So most new HID retrofit are made where the HID light output is in the same location as halogen filament position? If so that is cool. Only company up till now that I knew of this was McCullochs.

Buying HIDs so that you can "look" cool from far away is stupid. There should be a special forum for these kinds of questions. If the purpose of upgrading to HIDs for you is get a little more visibility at night [and you don't want driving lights], then you need check out what kind of results your headlight housing can get from an HID conversion.

Ex: 92-95 Civic OEM headlight lenses are fluted. These are terrible when HIDs are hooked up behind them. An option would be to invest in a set of aftermarket projectors and replacing the projector part of the housing with Audi A4/S4, BMW 3-series, or S2000 projectors.

6000k and above looks stupid. If you do not understand why HIDs appear purple or blue in OEM Audis, BMWs, MBs, and certain Acura/Hondas headlights when seen by other drivers, then stay away from HID. You only look stupid when you drive around with headlights that light up the ground a bright purple or blue thinking that your car "looks" like an Audi or something..
