Default The engine shouldn't shake at high revs, should it?

Was giving somebody a jump using my lady's RSX. She revved the engine up over 5k rpms in neutral (by accident) and I saw the damn engine start shaking like all hell. What's up with that?

I notice the RSX engine has a whole bunch of extra rubber stuff around it. Lot more rubber under the hood than in my car. Anyway, is that rubber there to insulate the engine during high revving? I mean, is it supposed to shake like that? Or perhaps the engine mounts used during this first year run of the RXS where inadequate for the engine. Any word on this from the dealer/recalls?

Just didn't seem good for the engine to be shaking back and forth during moderately high revs.

My engine moves when I rev it, don't they all?

My old car had a LOT of play, but it was an 89 Plymouth.

Both my LS (when I had it) and my R's engine moves when revved.

There is bound to be some shake as the engine is revved. When jumping another car you really don't need to rev the engine. The charging system will only allow so much current to the battery and that's it.

Haven't looked at the engine while in revs higher than idle yet, but I will check it out asap.

There's a rev limiter that kicks in while in neutral when the car is stopped. It's set lower than if you were moving. Happens to be at 5500 RPM's

Yeah, they try to rotate on their axis. That's normal.
