Looking to get a Type S in the Bay Area some questions
Hey everyone,
I'm a newbie to Acuras so I have a few questions for a friend's up coming purchase of the Type S.
1) What are prices for the Type S relative to MSRP?
2) Any good dealership recommendations for purchase and service? The closest one to us is Stevens Creek.
3) Do Acuras come with free maintenance up to 36,000 miles?
4) Any known defects on this car (ala E46 M3 engine problems)?
Thanks for any responses.
Mike

Your first question is a depends type of question. Depends on how well the car is selling where you are. Sometimes if you are willing to drive a couple hundred miles you may get a better deal than an area where they can't keep a car on the lot.
3. might be a negotiable point, but there is a high dollar interval service at 30000 miles, check in the shop at the dealer and see they usually have the interval services posted and how much they are.
4. There are some minor defects, most of which affected the first year's production.
TSB Number Issue Date TSB Title
02-012 MAY 02 Clutch Master Cylinder - Fluid Leakage
02-007 MAR 02 Interior Spotlight - Lens Sticks When Pressed
02-001 JAN 02 Front Inner Fenders - Cracked At Mounting Points
01-038 OCT 01 ECM/PCM - MIL ON/DTC P1122 or P1163 Set
01-036 OCT 01 Tools - Front Subframe Removal Adapter
01-024 JUL 01 TQI - New Model Information and Inspection Procedures
AllData won't give the whole of the TSB unless you subscribe per Acura.

Depends on where it is coming from, if one is available in the local/regional market or if you have to wait for one from Japan. There isn't a whole lot you can add to the typeS so it's pretty much a matter of picking the color. To be on the safe side I would say between 2 and 6 weeks.
