Chevy Cobalt vs. RSX

Chevy Cobalt vs. RSX
With all the focus on the Cobalt vs. the imports, I'd like to know what you guys think about what seems like it'll be a very close comaprison. The Cobalt SS and RSX Type S are both sport coupes with 200+hp 4cyls and luxury level interiors. Both list in the 20k range. It looks like the Cobalt would have the advantage in the straight line at least with 57lb/ft more torque. Any thoughts?

The Cobalt f-ing rules.
If you drive a Pinto.
Just kidding. I don't think the extra torque will get the Cobalt very far. The RSX has a truly good tranny and short throw shifter. With higher revs the RSX accelerates and pulls away harder, in my opinion anyway. The Cobalt may do well in the rice segment, but I think enthusiasts will buy the RSX-S. And I don't see the Cobalt doing any real racing anytime soon, unless you consider what's-his-names drag car.

still have to look at drivetrain as well
the reason the NSX runs 12s all day with only 290 hp and the C5 Z06 needs 405 hp to do it is drivetrain and traction issues
i dont think that 57 lb/ft of tq will help much when ur sitting there looking for traction in ur FWD while the RXS-S might start out sluggish but when the revs go higher man does it pull

Besides the fact that a cobalt needs a supercharger to even touch the Type-s I would still side with the rsx. Cobalt would get it off the line though. I can't really say much though because I am biased when it comes to my car

Price of SS vs RSX-S
For my zip code CarsDirect.com, the Cobalt SS listed at $20,495 and the RSX-S at $24,140.
Saturn Ion Redline: $19,450 is the better deal vs. cobalt
In Edmunds reviews of the Redline, one guy claims he picked his up for high $17K's
