Default Question for those that have driven the 2005 RSX-S and the pre 2005 RSX-S

Would you trade your pre 2005 Type S for a 2005 Type S? I've been reading a lot of great stuff about the 2005 Type S and how its a completely different beast and so forth. I've been trying to convince my brother and sister in law that they should trade their 2003 Type S for the 2005. :dunno: I guess we gotta test drive one and then see.

naw I dont think its worth trading in the pre 05 RSX-S for the 05. The ten crank hp doesnt make the car faster bcus it also got a bit heavier and its easy to gain 10 crank hp. The looks didnt change much

The 05 feels quicker down low, the torque comes on a bit sooner. I really didn't get a chance to test out the suspension too much. The seats are alot better than before, I'm not like the gauges a whole lot. My GF liked it so much she's trading in her 03 for an 05.

The head's different, it has ITR cams, and the computer's different. IIRC some internal parts are different, too, meaning the pistons and rods are from the ITR and the whole thing just revs better and faster.

If you put a graph of a stock K20A2 over a graph of a stock K20Z1, you'd be impressed at the differences and how much more under the curve there is in the Z1 chart.

I can't stop saying enough good things about how Honda/Acura listened to what needed to be different about the DC5 and how they actually acted on it.

specify that ur talkin about the 02+ ITR, i didnt even think of that when i posted and it might confuse people.

now that i made a fool of myself let me tell you what i really know for sure.

the 05's increased the redline to 8000, up from 7900, they also make a longer withstanding powerband that makes the maximum 210 horse at 7800 rpm

as for steering, the rato has been lowered slightly i believe to alow for slightly better control

i also read somewhere that the final drive ratio was made larger, not sure on that tho.

Here is a dyno of a K20A2 and a K20Z1 shown on the same graph.

The graph on the left illustrates why the 2005 Type S feels like a completely different car despite having only ten more horses.
