Mufflers and Wheel Offsets - 4gen
Hello,
I have 2 questions for now.
1st: I've been looking at mufflers and magnaflow seems to make good ones. If any of you have or heard/seen this brand of mufflers or another brand could you please give me a review of the sound/appearence? Thanks. I'm don't have enough money for a cat-back system and my current muffler is small and flat black. I want something with a little bit bigger dual tips in stainless steel (no grapefruit shooters). Also, the sound is important because I don't want an annoying lawnmower sound, just a reasonable rumble, and since my car is auto I don't want it to be obnoxious. Thanks again
2nd and last: I've been looking at wheels and I found that 4x114.3 lug wheels fit the 4g prelude but what offset would you recommend for a 17x7 wheel? I know stock is 55mm and I don't want to sacrafice my lude's handling advantage. Thankyou.

go with apex'i, i have the n1 series on my lude and it has great deep tone sound, but i got all new piping and the combined price of my exhaust was roughly 650 so its a lot but if you want performance your gonna have to spend money. oh yeah i bpught my muffler of ebay and then got pipes done at the gulf station, i got custom piping so thats hot.

So are you saying you had the N1 Muffler then custom machined cat back pipes? I can't really justify spending 650 for a cat-back exhaust that gives you only 10hp to the flywheel. I'm just looking for something that looks a little better and sounds a little better. I'm not really concerned about performance because I know I can get smoked by pretty much anything.
BTW, are your wheels 17" or 18"?

dont listen to the electrician.
you can get a full catback N1 system for $450 if you shop around. it's worthless to try and out-engineer a team of engineers who made the N1 setup. but, as far as muffler/exhaust setups go, i'm not a fan of the N1. just get whatever suits you, as you're not going to see much of a gain in power at all... only a gain in sound.
as for your offset, +45 is the lowest i'd go. it'll bring your rims out to the edge of the fenders without rubbing or looking like a skateboard.

Cool thanks a lot drift. Last quick question lol: is there any way to change a wheels offset? Cause I might be able to get some wheels with a 40 or 42 mm offset for cheap, and if I could change it to 45 that'd be awesome. Is this what spacers do? Thanks.

spacers will only exacerbate the problem. 40-42mm offset would have to have the wheel's hub shaved to achieve a higher offset.
the lower the offset, the more the wheels will stick out.
