what type of fuel are you using??
I'm in the process of buying a new car.
Tomorrow, I'm going to check out a 98 Prelude 5speed.
I was wondering what type of fuel you are using in your car.
Premium or Regular?
In addition, what sort of gas mileage are you getting?
THANKS!!

Use premium in 5th gen Prelude.
Engine provides good acceleration for a 4 cyl as well as good fuel economy.
I've gotten as much as 33 mpg in mixed driving (hyway, traffic, in town mixed). But my usual is between 29 and 31 mpg.

cool --- thank you very much
gas mileage is really good for a high powered motor!
wow!
however, i'm use to paying regular fuel for my accord and civic
accord gets 29 mpg
civic gets 32 city and 35 hwy
thanks again
is 30 mpg a pretty average for prelude owners?

91 oct because that's the best i can get.
yeah stay away from the regular fuel unless you want engine knock.
i got 22 mpg on my last tank but i was in vtec alot. if i try i think i can do roughly 26 mpg combined local/hiway.

spending a dollar more for higher octane gas is not worth a dime unless you got forced induction
with an N\A set up 120 octane race gas won't give you a single HP gain
all the octane rating is is the ability of the fuel to resist detonation and\or preignition......there for good for turbo\SC but worthless in a N\A set up

I'm sure you can build a n/a Honda that required it as well... not sure what the compression would have to be, but something very high. 14:1? 15:1?
But usually it is FI cars which need it, as you said, to resist detonation.
