Default anyone here hook an aftermarket water temp. gauge??

well, I've been struggling to hook up my autometer water temp gauge for about 3 hours with no progress whatsoever. I just tried splicing the temp. feed wire into an existing plug, and it has not been working. the gauge just grounds out & turns all the way over no matter what wire I hook it to. how did you guys hook up yours?? if you used the brass fittings it came with, where did you tap them in?? if you used an existing connection, where did you hook it up? help please!!

check the power and ground wires. You should tap into the side of the head. i had those problems, just try differnt power and ground sources till it works

wow, you drilled that big of a hole directly into the side of your head?? that's scary. isn't there some way to just tap into the signal wire of the stock temp. gauge??

Try a t- fitting from a hardware store or autoparts.
