Default Need Alittle Help

F-I Vets,

I was thinking about a Turbo-Prelude SI 1992-1996 NON-VTEC.

Some people were telling me that an automatic prelude would be faster than a 5-spd when it comes to a turbo.

I dont understand - Need help to Clarify.

Some people told me that I could "build boost" at the stop light using my foot brake and the gas pedal.

I Can Chirp 2nd in my non-VTEC 93' automatic.

Can any of you non-VTEC people do that too?

Or is my car tight like that.

My 96 is auto, couple of times I've put it in 1st from the start and then two then D3 and D4 and between 1 and 2... if I catch it at the right rpm on the right road conditions they chirp nicely. Probably not a good idea to do that right? .... opps It was a ass-adent

Actually seems easier to chip from 1 or 2nd than right from a stop. Probably cause the rpm's are higher.?.?. maybe....

a turbo auto wont lose boost when changing gears like a manual will because your not letting off the gas when you change gears. and yes you can build boost by brake torquing at a stop.

I know peter in real life, his car is pretty ****in decent for a stock h23a automatic. He runs low 10's in the 1/8 mile with just exhaust.. and he has 17" rims on his car also.

Boosting an automatic :werd: Get a new tranny or car, IMO do not bother.

Buick GNX was a tremendous car, so damned fast, but a real fluke - a Buick turbo V6? Man, were they forward thinking with that thing. They'll never build anything like that again ... and anyone remember the old turbo Trans Am with the same turbo V6? It looked so much better, for an 80s domestic. I think that car even paced an Indy 500 or two. I read somewhere about the GNX: "Darth Vader outside, Rosanne Barr inside."

There are more turbo/auto Supras than turbo/6spds... and the auto Supra owners are pretty rabid about their cars. But the stress of a turbo is pretty wicked on a typical auto, especially a Honda - not known to take well to 50+ hp increases. Be careful, and good luck.

Levelten is not all it's cracked up to be. I've had dealings with the owner Pat Barrett and he screwed my friend good. He used to have a great shop which still caries his name and does good work. His new place has had lots of issues and he's ****ty to deal with when his stuff breaks.
