Default Lets make my cousins Lude fast!

My cousin is acquiring a 98 Prelude in a few days, or a week or so, anyway the car currently has:

H22 engine
Stage 2 Clutch
Custom dual exhaust
Header (forgot brand)
Eibach lowering springs

Basically he looks to me when it comes to what mods to buy next.. the first time when i wasnt into cars deeply we got him a system and neons and crap like that. This time I wanna make his car fast... but I'm not Honda/Acura talented. So I came to you guys.

So far I've recommended:
V-AFC (or S-AFC if thats what his application will need)
Skunk2 Cam Gears
Pulleys (havent found which one)
CAI
Short Shifter

He has 1000 bucks to work with and I wanna price a list to squeeze the most ponies out of his car.. so post away with knowledge!

Right. The thing is a lot of people who put Nitrous on their daily driver use it, say, on the ramp going on to a freeway or in order to pull hard up a big hill. It's not redlight to redlight fast, unless you can get new bottles all teh time but then again it's a Prelude. It wasn't meant to be a really fast car.

Of course you still have to put the power to the pavement so sportier tires might be in order as well.

Its a prelude, so its quick but its not gonna be super fast unless its BLOWN. 1st off forget about the neons. If you really care about quick and want to save as much weight as possible don't put in a sub for his system, I would get really good components for the front and really good 6x9s for the rear, with a decent amp, it won't give you earthshaking bass but it will give you good bass with a rich and clear sound. No point in getting cam gears without aftermarket cams, the stock cams and set at optimum timing from the factory. I'd say the thing to do is to take off the dual exhaust and sell it and buy a nice catback or fabricate one from an exhaust shop with a high flow catalytic converter. Get yourself better tires to get that power to the ground you can find good rim and tire combos for good prices if you look around. Get urself a skunk2 intake manifold w/ hondata heatshield, ebay intake w/ k&n or other high quality filter. Forget the VAFC and get hondata s200 w/ a obd2a adapter harness. When he has more funds get crower cams and valvetrain, and forged (need to resleeve) higher compression pistons. Get larger injectors and upgrade your fuel system. Lemme tell you from experience, I've spent over 4 grand on my engine and I've only made a little over 200whp. Your best horsepower per dollar would be to save up and get the H22 blown. Well before you do any of this stuff however I would recommend that your cousin do all the maintenence on the car since he's getting it used before he throws on the aftermarket stuff. All he would need is to spend $1000 on the car and the have the timing belt break on him. Better safe than sorry.

That was an intense reply.

Good luck with the Prelude, keep us posted on what works out.
