Need help with my Transmission problem
My tranny is on it's way out. I had a new clutch put in and had the fly wheel resurfaced. The clutch went bad the day I got my car back from the shop. I then had another clutch put in along with a brand new fly wheel. Two days after I got my car back the clutch started slipping again. I guess when I had it towed back to the shop they said the synchros are bad in the tranny. I know you can buy a synchro rebuild kit but should I just buy a new tranny. And if I should buy a new tranny should I buy one from the internet or should I get one through the shop that is doing all my work. My car by the way is a 1998 Honda prelude base model with the h22a. Anyway any advice would be greatly appriciated. Thanks,
Troy

yep
Yes. I do know that you must break the new clutch in. The first time I had a new clutch put in I drove it about 30 miles and did not beat on the car. I have had a few cars that I had a new clutch put in and broke them in all properly. I do know a decent amount about cars. Not a newbie. Thanks any way for the advice.

Something doesn't sound right
I've never heard of a clutch going out after only a couple days. It doesn't sound likely unless you are slipping it a lot and just burn it up. But if you are taking it easy there is something else wrong. Something else is going on. Did you replace the pressure plate? If you didn't and the springs are weak or broken thats the likely cause. About breaking in a clutch? Really there is no such thing. As long as you take it easy for a few days. Just normal shifting thats all there is to consider here. When the clutch is engaged there is nothing going on that has anything to do with breaking in anything. The parts are locked together. Just trying to give useful info. Not trying to be disrespectful.

I wonder if the shop replaced all the clutch parts and not just the disc i've seen that happen before I would ask to see if the pressure plate and throw out bearing was replaced if the synchro are bad it usally won't go into gear or grind not slip ... but if there was a grove in the shaft the throw out bearing might hang up causing the slipping.

about the clutch
i dont know if this has anything to do with your problem but i just had my 97 lude swapped from auto to 5-speed and im having the same slipping problem. but my cause is that the pedal is not properly spaced from the firewall. maybe they messed with that for some reason.

check your slave cylinder if you're clutch is slipping. You may need a spacer near the firewall. Same thing happened to mine when i did the swap and there was too much pressure on the slave cylinder causing the clutch to engage even though it wasn't really engaged.
