Default custom exhaust help

im have this header...

http://www.kteller.com/store/product...oducts_id/1150

however it does not come with a flex pipe...people tell me i need one so im getting this one.....

http://www.kteller.com/store/product...roducts_id/210

my question is...how do i put the flex pipe onto the header????

-do i get some flanges and just bolt it to the end??? however if i do this the header will be longer than the stock ones and that mite lead to problems...

-or do i cut off a piece of the downpipe and then put the flex pipe on so the length would stay the same????

should i weld it or use flanges??? im not comfortable welding and i want this done right so would exhaust shops be able to do this for me??

p.s. the rest of my exhaust is going to be custom...it wont be a catback system....im gettin a high flow cat, 2.5" piping and a magnaflow muffler

p.s.s do i need a resonator???

Looks like a nice header. To start off you should probably just have a shop weld in the flex pipe. They are going to remove a piece of the header the size of the flex pipe before the o2 bung and weld the flex pipe right in. You don't necessary have to have a flex pipe but I would recommend it. If you are going to have a full custom made exhaust then you dont necessarily need flanges for the catalytic convertor so that would save you some time and money right there. As far as the resonator thats up to you. Resonators can absorb some of the sound to give you are quieter exhaust note and they can also change the tone and give you, in my opinion, a nicer exhaust tone especially with straight through mufflers. In most cases they place little to no restriction in the exhaust system. Anyways good luck with your exhaust, looks like you are headed in the right direction!

ya its jus like the smsp or hytech header...same basic design...all of em have a 2.5" collector and big runners...thats wat makes the difference in pricing

ya thanks posite thats wat i wanted to know...i wanted to know if a shop would do that.....i went to meineke and they said they dont do headers....should i just go to one of those private places??? i guess ill have a shop weld everythin together then....but wouldnt that come out to the same price as just buying everything with flanges???

uh, have you ever seen an SMSP or hytech header? they look totally different. the design is totally different. just because they have the same collector size doesn't mean that the headers are the same. this particular header is of the same pedigree as the prospeed and AN-R headers, because all 3 were designed by the same guy.

these headers are expensive because of the R&D, and the production costs of doing small batches of very intricate stainless steel pieces. if they were to make 1000's of these at one time like DC, they'd be much, much cheaper.

You obviously don't know much about high performance headers.

I do know, I just wouldn't spend $699.99 for a few more horses
