Default Engine problems !!!!!! PLease help

Whats up all its been a minute. I got a 98 prelude sh a while back and about a month ago it started overheating. So I parked it in th egarage and was gonna take it to the mechanic to have a coolant system check. On the way the cel came on and the car shut off. No loud noises, smoke nuthin. So I tow it to this shop and the guy proceeds to tell me that my pistons are melted and I need to buy a new engine. He didn't charge me anything to tell me this but there is more to the story. So this past weekend me and a buddy started takeing the damn motor out of the car. We get to the valve cover and decide to take it off and see if the cams were ok. We get it off and the timing belt is freaking just hanging there. So my question is, Would the timing belt snap if the pistons seized? Also what are my options other than getting a new motor. Suggestions on pistons, rods, heads, blocks anything to help.

Thanks,

ken

I think your timing belt snapping was the problem, and not the pistons melting. you may need new pistons and valves.
