Fundamental Car Tuning
Obv a noob hear. After purchasing my car what is the most simple/best/or cheapest do it yourself improvement you can make as far as improving performance on a Honda Prelude 97 (base)/Acura Integra 94-95
Somebody told me cold air intake...but what does that involve?
Any help would be good

what kind of improvements do you want to make?
if i could do it all over again i'd do it in this order:
suspension-GC and koni yellows, progress rear sway
Wheels/Tires-lightweight 16x7's with 225/45/16 tires or 15x7 with 225/45/15's
Bolt-ons: Ebay CAI/SMSP header/HF Cat/RSR Exmag
my car is pretty much the same as what you see up there and a couple more things, i just went about it in a round about way.
if i could do it all over again i'd do it in this order:

If you want to go about modding a car 'properly' start with things that affect your contact and control on the road, the most first.
Buy better tires, then...
Save up and Improve your suspension: shocks, springs, strut bars, sway bars...
upgrade wheels(tires again)
THEN worry about power adders/improvers. Its pretty useless to modify a car if the chassis can't handle it.

i agree with you on the rubber but...
personally
i decided my first mod was gonna be the best engine swap possible
as far as the stock BB1/2/4 chassis, i think its more than adequate to handle most road coarses and 200HP, the only downfall to a stock BB1/2/4 suspension that i see is:
stock ride height
body-roll
BB2 brakes
all of those are easily remedied with a eibach pro-kit and energy sway bar bushings or a sway bar upgrade + the bushings.
for the brakes $200 worth of reman at rockauto.com and u have BB1 brakes for the same price as BB2.

*shrug* Different strokes for different folks... for street purposes the chassis is more than adequate.
But if you are taking it to the a road coUrse, or an autox, be prepared to deal with annoying, fun killing, tire shredding, trench digging, terminal understeer. The floppy suspension means the car will roll over substantially on the outside front at turn in, mid corner, you might get it back neutral just in time to roll onto the throttle, and experience the joy of understeer on the exit.
Chassis upgrades = horsepower for the turns...

i got a video of myself therr and all u hear is tires squeeling
i also broke one of sway bar endlinks on that track
just remember that with a racing suspension (even just energy bushings) normal driving will crack your teeth...this is why i removed my COMPLETE energy kit after last summer because every single groove in the road will make you want to kill someone.
