Default 18" wheels

Reading this forum, it doesn't sound like too many folks use 18 x 7.5 wheels w/ 215/40-18 tires. The first thing I've found wrong is the offset. The new wheels have a +45 mm offset. The car isn't lowered, and it never will be as long as I own it. So will a rubbing problem exist? If I go down to 17 x 7 wheels, the offset goes to +40 mm and that sucks. I will not use spacers.

i got 18's sittin in my garage waiting to be wrapped in rubber...they are 18x7.5 with a 48mm offset....the 45 offset might rub the outside lip...since ur not lowering it, shouldnt be that bad....the 17x7 with 40 offset will be even worse...i suggest tryin the 18s and if anythin cut away at the wheel well lining so there wont be any rubbing

I have 18's on my '97 with 215-40, with a 1.5" drop and it never rubs. It all just depends on the car, they're all different.

Toyo has the new Proxes in 215/40-18. It's supposed to be a kickin' tire. I'm looking at Motegi MR7's with Toyo 225/40-18. The wheels have a 45mm offset which is about as close as it's gonna get. Any thoughts about tire rub problems with this size tire?
