Right on man, the shots look good.
I think I'm dead set on the Tamron 17-50 VC lens. I don't plan on going to a FF setup anytime soon (might upgrade to a Rebel T2i this year) so I think it will meet my needs better than anything else I've come across. I appreciate the help from everyone. Now if I can just find a really good deal on one...

Sigma 17-50/2.8 OS HSM just came out. No tests that I know of yet. OS = IS and HSM = USM silent focus motor.

That Sigma looks nice but I don't want to wait much longer to get a lens. I'm going on vacation in a few weeks and I definitely want to get one before then. I've been looking like everyday for the Tamron 17-50 VC but can't really find any good prices...nothing below $580 after the rebate that they have going right now. :a:

I got my non-VC for $368 shipped, very lightly used. h:
Unfortunately the VC is newer so not as many people selling em on ebay just yet. Maybe try some Canon forums? I snagged a couple lenses off pentaxforums.com that weren't otherwise available on ebay.
