well we can point out and discuss exceptions all day long
that wont get us anywhere

and for long exposure (ie, night shots) you can still use the flash to set the focus point. it does not invalidate what i said. what's the point of a long exposure that is completely out of focus? also the medium is digital, you can easily take multiple pics with flash to make sure the focus is set and then lock it down then take the long exposure

I'm not disagreeing with you. Just pointing out what I meant by using the AF in MF mode.

understood. I still prefer my method. flash works, why not use it.

that's why you set your focus point, no need for the camera to try to figure out what your trying to focus on in low light.
