Default D40 v D60

So now that I work at best buy and I know the D40 is discontinued, I think my discount was like 330 or something around there for the camera (I have to look again), so i figured why not purchase one when i'm eligible to use my discount. I've read that the D60 is sort of a downgraded version of the D40 just with more megapixels. I don't plan on shooting gigantoid pictures and i'm a camera n00b so i'll be doing alot and alot and even more reading.

Which would you recommend.

D40. The smaller sensor is actually an advantage... stays much cleaner at high ISO's. Plus, dealing with the file size of 10.2MP images gets old quickly. Plus, D40 is cheaper.

For lenses, I'd get the 18-55VR, 55-200VR, and the 35mm f/1.8 DX.

How about you buy a discounted d90, and buy my d40 :uhhok: and I shell you some more $$$ for the 90

I LOVE my d40, but once I got around to learning it and using it more I do find it's missing things that the d90 offers (using non-af lenses for one), however the d40 is SUPER compact and light for the power you get out of it.

I didn't look at the D60. I just found the SKU for the D40 in the ad while i was sitting around bored and wanted to find out what the Employee Pricing for it was. Next time i work though isn't until next thursday. So i'll get the exact pricing for the D40,D60,D90 well pretty much every Nikon DSLR

You still lookin' for a flash? If you'd taken $5 out of each paycheck since the first time you brought that up, you'd have one by now. :fawk:

Ah man that sucks bro. I hope it was insured and doesnt effect your daily grind too much.

Im thinking of working at BB for the holidays for that employee discount myself. :bandito:
