Photography peeps - what to do?
So I checked my Flickr account the other day and I had a message under one of my photos:
I love this pic and want to use it for an art project - Couldn't figure out how to contact you using flickr....so I hope you're notified of this comment - please send your e-mail address to: xxxxxxxxx@yahoo.com

Is there anything I need to do or keep in mind before giving permission to use my shot? I figured Chef, Vinnie, or somebody of the likes would know what to do.
EDIT: I guess I could've posted this in the Photography sub-forum...but maybe I'll get faster responses here in the Basement. :hs:

Here is what I would do (non-pro):
-ask what the project is for
-thank her for the compliment
-i would not give permission if the project was obscene or something...nor if it was for profit. If it is for profit, charge for it And I would not give the full res Link to pic

I wanted to use your pic for one of the free monthly calenders I'm giving away on my website (they are not posted yet, in case you go and look) - I'd also like to use it as reference for a painting I want to do of the canal at night - You've lined the buildings up perfectly! They're interesting, and I can see a smidge of the capital building dome...which is great! For just recently taking up photography (as you stated somewhere), you do a very nice job! Keep at it...it could take you places!
I will need your written permission in order to use your photo, stating that I have limited use of copyright for the specific jobs (mentioned above)

I like how you keep blurting out the e-mail but give the website.
If you give permission ask for likeness rights (ie $$$$) if she sells the painting.

there are a bunch of people doing that shit on flickr, who ask to use your photo for their own pesonal gains. I would say no and have said no in the past.
