Default What am I doing wrong?

I tried to get this picture to look better, but I keep doing something wrong. I wanted the snow to look crisper, but my car keeps getting darker?

I would select the car with the polygonal lasso tool. Then under "Select" hit "Inverse".

Now you can adjust color, contrast, etc. without the part you selected. I also lightened your car slightly.

This was just a quick job. It can look much better.

edit: How do you make the attatched image full size?

you've been a member this long and don't know how to put a full size image instead of just attaching it?

thats what happens when the car is kinda fuzzy to begin with (low resolution and a bit over exposed). in your pic, the car color isnt very saturated. i tried to help it out a it, but like i said, its hard with the low resolution. there isnt enough digital data to keep everything detailed and clear. i could probably make it work if i wanted to sit an play with it for awhile.

try using the shadow/highlight adjustments in PS CS. That should help. If you don't want anything to change on your car, try cutting it out as mentioned above. Finally, you could also get a lot out of adjusting the levels, but it will make changes to the look of the car as well if if is not copied ot another layer.

hih Mike.

done with shadow/highlight.

Made the car a bit brighter/clearer actually.

A bit more tweaking with shadow/highlight:
