$300 range. I gave up on looking for good zoom--3x is enough.

3.2 MP is fine

Canon for sure.

I'll suggest the Canon A70 or A75. I have an A60. Absolutely LOVE it just want more than 2.0 MP now.

A80 is nice but I didnt like the TINY pop-out viewscreen.

You probably won't find a Nikon thats worth purchasing for $300. Nikon is pro stuff. I am partial though, me and my dad have a Nikon SLR...
