What benefit does a baffled oil pan provide?

it keeps more oil in bottom of the pan so that the pickup can use it...

really it is most useful when you are BIG into drag racing, like running very fast, or when on road courses or auto cross, in a normal pan when you take off fast, the oil goes to the back of the pan...when you turn fast or stop fast the same happens, think of it as a glass of water in your car...the water is pulled by gravity and its very easy to spill a full glass of water....but if you had a lip around the glass, it would take ALOT more force to make that water come out of the cup...

Ok, so it keeps the oil where it can utilized and not pinned against the side when you launch or go into a turn. Got it, thanks...

ok, so someone want to buy it yet? You dont' want to take that turn, or accelerate or brake so fast that you have oil starvation and your motor BLOWS UP!
