Potential answere to our Oil Chrisis?
" Hidden 1,000 feet beneath the surface of the Rocky Mountains lies the largest untapped oil reserve in the world — more than 2 TRILLION barrels. On August 8, 2005 President Bush mandated its extraction. Three companies have been chosen to lead the way. Test drilling has already begun…"

as F***ed up as it is, there a lot of politicians and bussiness people who are against domestic oil drilling, not because of environmental issues, but so when the shit hits the fan we'll have a ton of oil, and everyone else will be out because the've been selling it to us for 100 years.

Uh hey guys this is actually true. Do some research on it before you call BS, there are several official government documents in PDF format that discuss this oil reserve.
The reason it hasn't been tapped before now is that the oil price hasn't been high enough to turn a profit. But now it is. Same with the oil sands in Alberta.

When the House does this...
House Votes to Keep Offshore Drilling Ban
I seriously doubt it.
So the next time you go to the pump and pay $3+ per gallon blame your Representatives.

We should NOT be looking for more oil at this point. We should be spending money on developing alternative, renewable sources of power. Oil is NOT an unlimited resource. Digging for even more now will do nothing but postpone our eventual switch to a different souce of power. If we do it now, maybe we will save some environmental damage, not to mention the fact that we can become less reliant on the Middle East.
