On a side note...

I was watching the Masterforce TF TV series, the one where Blaster gets iced and becomes Twincast...

It might have been the HK British-English script, but they were calling Blaster "Gary". The person I assumed was Spike was called "Sparkle". It was so :ghey: .

But the positive out of that series...I now know exactly who Six-Shot is. I am glad I purchased that reissue. When I bought it I didn't know who the character was, I just bought it because it had six transformations. Six-Shot is one seriously bad ass Mo-Fo.

Six-Shot is responsible for the death of Ultra Magnus. He took out two of the stronger Decepticons with punches that knocked their heads into little bits. He took down Metroplex. KO'ed a few of the Autobot combiners in one shot.

The Pretenders series seems to be real :ghey: so far.

TF collecting is at its highest point ever. There are so many toys being offered, it'll make your head spin.

US: Cybertron, Alternators, Beast Wars, Universe, Star Wars ...
Japan: Galaxy Force, Takara reissues, TFC reissues, e-Hobby, Binaltech, bottle caps, PVCs ...
(can't forget the recently ended lines like 2005's Robot Masters, Energon, Super Link)

even though the mainstream flood of toys, Blaster was a G1 main character. He's not some lame 2 episode guy like Hoist, Grapple, Inferno, Smokescreen, Skids, etc ... Look at the highest priced TFC's:

00 Prime, 01 Jazz, 06 Megatron, 09 Starscream, 10 Soundwave, 12 Minibots ... what do they have in common? They were in the G1 cartoon almost everyday.
One of the things you have to remember is that it's not only the character that is popular, but also the rivalry. Blaster/Twincast had a definite rival in Soundwave/Soundblaster, and considering how popular Soundwave/Soundblaster was/is, it is only logical for collectors to pair them up. Also, don't forget the cassettes. They are an added value to the toy, not like piss-ant wheelie.

Now, throw in the fact that ehobby has sold out on this figure and guarantee prices will skyrocket. Don't be suprised if you see the going rate as at least double 6 months after release. Trust me, I've been doing this longer than the rest of you and I've seen all the trends. If you can afford it, double up on this one, buy a case if you can.

I've got the Headmaster dvd's. Weren't they calling him "Billy?" I love the dubbed voices in it and the cheesy music. "Now there are two Convoys!" Haha, was Rodimus Prime called only Convoy in Japan?

Reno! Getting back to your post about a shopping list.

Like any trip to Asia, the most important thing to lookout for are bootlegs. We all love bootlegged dvds ... girls love bootlegged purses, why? They look real, at a fraction of the cost. This goes for Transformers also.

There is a huge difference between a "knockoff" (KO) and "bootleg" (BL).

This is a KO's

- they're reverse engineered from existing toys ... so, they're casted from originals, but are never the same.
- of course, the colors and decals are terrible

This is BL's

- dead on packaging
- plastics dyed to factory spec
- almost impossible to distinguish

Bootlegs made their way to the chinese market due to undisposed toy molds. Hasbro gave molds to chinese factories to help produce TF's in the 80's. Towards the end of the factory runs, the molds were never disposed. Now, the original molds are being re-used to make unlicensed duplicates.

Techincally, this isn't a knockoff ... they're original presses, but they're NOT from 1985 ... they're from 2005. Like any toy mold, they wear out. After how many copies are made? Nobody knows. Fact is, Ironhide was bootlegged constantly in 2002/2003 ... now, he's nowhere to be seen. (this goes for Cyclonus too)

Personally, I want to buy all the bootlegs I see. They don't last forever, so they're nothing more than a reissue that captures everything G1 (toy and packaging).

time for the shopping list.
Remember, there are NO original G1 items on Asian streets. Everything you see in the markets is a copy ... when your brother is shopping, always assume it's a fake.

and the king of them all ...

Grab everything that looks G1, but don't pay G1 prices for it. $8 to $10 at MOST for the little guys. $30 to $40 for Prime.

That's right. He was called "Billy". It was so :ghey: when I heard it. After he gets rebuilt, then they started calling him Blaster.

What I really didn't like is that after Cybertron gets blown up by the Decepticons, Rodimus Prime, Kup, and Blurr punk out and call it quits. They just fly off looking for somewhere peaceful to live.

If they could rebuild Soundwave and Blaster, why couldn't they rebuild Optimus Prime? I mean, he comes back to life enough already...if he turns all black, they can just slap another coat of paint on him.

This is 100% true. If you lock in your price at BBTS for $71 ... what happens to all the people wanting one but didn't get in?

Think November 2005 and the Xbox360. It might be that bad.

Keep some Quintessons in perpetual slavery just for this purpose...to ressurrect Prime whenever he gets killed off.
